A french ornithologist had the nasty surprise of finding a dead osprey caught in the trap of a fisherman's electric line, on the 23 May in the early evening.
Having a fish in its claws, the bird had probably ste down there to eat it. An electric arc may have subsenquently formed by the contact between the dripping water of the skin of the fish and an elctric line.
Even if this type of death is accidental, it remains a serious problem for ospreys due to the under representation of the species within French territory - fewer than 100 pairs in 2016.
It was this type of accident that led Enedis to begin the modification of its power lines.
